Welcome to the New Eden Community Blog

Recently branched off from the older community of Eden, many younger residents have chosen to move away from their ancestoral land to a different location, called New Eden. Although most residents still hold closely to their family ties and history they are eager to start a new life in a place they can make their own.

Community Event: Aerial Bionic Concert

Last week, the residents of New Eden were treated to a very special concert at the newly built "Eclipse" nightclub. The show started at 8:00 and the band played until 11 pm.R.J. Cormier and his girlfriend, Tosha Go, took a moment to model the band's new concert T-shirts while waiting outside for the doors to open. The club was packed as nearly all of the town showed up to watch the concert. After talking to some residents at the concert the great turnout was attributed partially to the fact that drummer, Gareth Thayer, is an Eden native and his friends and neighbors wanted to support him and partially to the concert being promoted as an event to celebrate the founding of this new neighborhood. Either way, the turn out was even better than expected.
The band rocked the stage and kept the crowd dancing until they had to call it a night. Of course some sims are more into dancing than others. Some came just to hear the music and socialize with their neighbors. Gregory Harris and Winston Crabtree get into a debate about entertainment and art.
Gregory: I don't understand why you waste your time working on soap operas and stuff like that, Winston. Have you ever thought about doing real literature, you know, like actual books?
Gregory: I mean, wouldn't it be great if we had more art and culture on the screen and in our hood events?
Winson: Well, Gregory, just because something isn't typically what you'd think of as hanging in an art gallery or great literature, doesn't mean it isn't art or a form of creative expression.
Winston: Just listen to those guys on stage. They aren't playing with a symphony orchestra, but they're still creating an amazing sound. Not only are they entertaining lots of sims, but they also put a lot of work and creative energy into what they do.
Gregory: Yeah, I can see what you mean.
Sims gather around the bar to enjoy refreshments and conversation.
Shawn: Hey, is that sim not wearing any shoes?!?
Heather Huffington may have had a little too much at the bar, as she starts to give the local teens some questionable advice.
Heather: You kids, should not even worry about school too much. If I could go back I would not have sweated school so much. Maybe I wouldn't have even bothered going to college. What did it do for me anyway?
Heather: Forget school, the thing to do is marry rich!
Gregory seems to be getting a bad habit of putting his foot in his mouth.
Gregory: You're getting tired already, honey? Just be glad that the concert is now at the begining of your pregnancy instead of when you're in your third trimester and feeling as big as a sumo wrestler.
Romance brews between a pair of local teens.
The band finally has to call it a night. They thank the crowd for supporting them and take a few minutes to relax and mingle.
Trevor and the bartender, Caryl, seem to notice each other.
He strikes up a conversation with her.
Caryl: Oh my gosh, I am a huge fan of your music. It's crazy how much I love your songs!

Moving In: The Straight Family

Christopher and Sophie are a young married couple fresh out of university. Christopher is the youngest son of actress Miriam Connelly, who still lives in Eden with her third and current husband, Christopher's stepdad, as does Chris' older brother Byron. His father is supposedly living somewhere in downtown Eden, but Christopher doesn't know much about him, since his father left his mother before he was born.

Christopher realizes he should be grateful for the family he does have in his life when he looks at his wife's situation. Sophie has no family at all to speak of. She was one of many of the lost children of Sim Nation with no home and no family ties. Luckily a special grant allowed her to attend ESC where she met and fell in love with her now husband, Christopher.
More urban in their tastes and interested in being where the action is, Christopher and Sophie have decided to move into a townhouse in the center of New Eden near the local shops and restaurants. Though the lot is small, the house is actually spacious on the inside with 3 bedrooms, two living areas and there is even a small yard out back.

The house is the perfect size for the two of them and the baby that's on the way. There may even be room for one or two more. Whether or not there is another child in the Straight's future depends on who you ask. Christopher would love to have a large family, but Sophie is more hesitant. She is just starting her career as a professional athlete and hopes to make it to the top of the career someday. She sometimes worries that multiple pregnancies will keep her from achieving her dreams.Of course, it's easier for Christopher to dream of having a perfect family when he doesn't have to go through the pregnancies and when he is currently unemployed and able to be a stay at home dad. Luckily Sophie is more than happy to be the breadwinner in the family.

Today the Straights aren't worrying about big questions or plans about the future. They're just enjoying each other's company and doing the things they enjoy doing on a quiet, rainy day at home together.

And it looks like they could be spending a few more days like this, as Sophie has been officially placed on maternity leave.

Moving In: The D'Sim Family

Shawn and Jane D'Sim are another recently wed couple that have decided to start their lives in New Eden. Shawn is slightly older than Jane. In Eden he lived in the boarding house after graduating from ESC (Eden State College). Though he is reaching the middle of his adult years, he's just moving into his own home and starting his own family for the very first time.

While Shawn is away, working at his job as a UFO investigator, Jane has the day off. However as a STAR journalist, she's always working. Even though she may not be in the office today, she's still keeping busy networking and picking up on any juicy gossip about the local celebs. It's always good to make new friends who can keep you in the informed about the latest gossip and happenings.
In the afternoon, Gregory Harris stops by to boast about his new dance and fitness studio, hoping Jane will drop a few words about it in STAR or at least give it a good review in the local paper. Something about him, just rubs her the wrong way. She's a serious journalist after all. Not at the beck and call of any local business owner. She knows she shouldn't alienate anyone in the hood, especially someone like Gregory who might attract local celebs to his studio, but she just can't help making her feelings known and putting him in his place.Luckily, Gregory is a nice guy and not easily offended. He wanders off to the D'Sim's study and starts thumbing through Shawn's magazine collection.
In the evening Gregory's wife, Robin drops by the D'Sim's house looking for her husband. Robin, who has taken on some of the neighborhood organization duties until an official election can be held, starts up a conversation with Jane about the neighborhood's education system. The neighborhood has already hired a new teacher, but still needs to find a facility for the classrooms and possibly housing for students, if the proposed boarding school becomes a reality. At the end of the day, Jane is relieved when the neighbors have finally gone home and she can spend some quality time with someone she truly enjoys spending time with, her husband, Shawn.

Moving in: The Crabtree Family

The name Winston Crabtree is well known in the sim entertainment industry for his work as a talent agent and casting director for the long running sim soap, Arrendale Heights, but his personal life has been kept largely private. Before he moved to New Eden, he lived in Bay Pointe, where Arrendale Heights is filmed. He is single, never been married, and has no children. His family, his father, the caretaker of the Bay Pointe cemetary, and much younger half-siblings still live in Bay Pointe.

He's moved away from Bay Pointe, hoping his new home will be a private retreat from his professional life.At least to some degree. One of the first rooms in his spacious home is set aside as an office where he can meet with clients and work from home.
His first day in his new home, he's already meeting with clients. Trevor Yang and Gareth Thayer members of the new band, Aerial Bionic drop by to see how the publicity shots from their recent photo shoot turned out.

And offer some suggestions about how they would like to see things done, but Winston, as their agent/manager is not afraid to speak up when he knows best and veto anything that he thinks will hinder their careers.

However when it comes to the creative side of things, he knows when to step aside. Leave the talent to those who have it, good business sense is his strong suit.

Moving in: The Harris Family

One of the first families to move into New Eden is young married couple, Gregory and Robin Harris. Though not from the oldest families in Eden, both come from families that had risen to prominent places in the community. Robin's mother Brooke Young (descended from the Thayer-Centowski family line) is Eden's only elected spokessim and her father is CEO of his own company. Gregory's mother is a local theater actress and his father is a local athletic star. Both are only children, but Robin has many aunts, uncles, and cousins living in Eden and New Eden. If their parents are any indication, this couple seems destined for success. Their house is still modest from the exterior. Gregory and Robin both see this as a starter house that they can expand upon. The highlight of this house for Gregory is the detached garage which he has converted to his own fitness and dance studio. "We never had anything like this back in Eden," Gregory proudly boasts.
While Gregory runs his studio, Robin is just getting started in her career in the field of law. Is she interested in following in her mother's footsteps and running for office in New Eden? Perhaps. Robin says, "I never aspired to go into politics, but if we need someone to fill the role and I turn out to be the best sim for the job, I wouldn't say no." Sounds like it might be a likely possibility.

The couple seems very cozy and settled in their new home already, though they say they'll need to add another addition to the house before it can be complete, as the couple happily announces they're already expecting a new addition to the family soon.
