Welcome to the New Eden Community Blog

Recently branched off from the older community of Eden, many younger residents have chosen to move away from their ancestoral land to a different location, called New Eden. Although most residents still hold closely to their family ties and history they are eager to start a new life in a place they can make their own.

Moving in: The Huffington Family

Heather Huffington never thought her life would be like this. She always thought she'd finish college marry a rich man or get a glamorous high paying job and move into a fancy house. Instead she's found herself an unemployed, single mom, renting a modest two bedroom apartment.

She met him in college. He seemed sweet and shy and at first she wasn't sure if she wanted to give him the time of day.

But once she did, things progressed. They started to fall in love. After graduation they moved into a house together with his sister and another recent graduate.
Their relationship didn't last long. Neither one of them was eager to commit and neither one was perfectly faithful to one another. When he caught her fooling around with another man, he couldn't forgive her and the relationship was over. He didn't believe that the baby was his when she found out that she was pregnant shortly after she got cheating, but she knew it was. After Lance was born they had a paternity test done to prove what she already new. Gareth had seen Lance a few times, but shortly after he was born, she made the move to New Eden and Gareth took off to pursue his dream of becoming an internationally famous rock star.

Gareth was generous enough with financial support. But it was hard going through the day by day of parenting alone.
Heather knew she should get busy getting on her feet so she could support herself and Lance on her own, but she was feeling aimless and directionless. She would try to find times in the day to paint for a little extra money and spend the rest of her time caring for her little one.

She wasn't too proud to depend on the help of kind visiting neighbors. She was wary at first about inviting the husband of a STAR journalist into her home, but Shawn was sweet and helpful and eager to get practice for when he would have kids of his own.
Even more of a blessing to Heather was Neil Hayes, an actor neighbor who seemed to pass by her house every day. She never failed to greet him when she had the chance. He was also sweet and helpful, and single. Heather thought it was a shame she wasn't attracted to him in the least bit. Why couldn't she just find one man who had it all?
